Abstract

The structuralism of Da Saussure, In which language Is regarded as a communicative phenomenon only, had to resolve In the type of Ideology held by the post-structuralist Derrida. The moment language Is severed from the individual there can also be no firm foundation for meaning. The linguistics of Prof. F.J. Labuschagne in which language is primarily seen as originating with the individual gives a logical alternative to the structuralist viewpoint.
