Abstract

Na negentien maande van onophoudelike stryd en nood, word John Knox gedurende Februarie 1549 van die wrede Franse galeiskip losgelaat. Hierop begeef die liggaamlik gebroke hervormer hom na Engeland, omdat Skotland nog te onveilig was, Die Rooms-Katolieke party het sake aldaar so onder die kiel gehad, dat ’n deurbraak van die Hervorming menslik gesproke op hierdie tydstip onmoontlikwas.
