To the question as to why it should be necessary to study the history of philosophy, the answer is given that this study reveals to us the struggles of philosophers with the great issues of life, and this leads to the conclusion that this study is essential and valid. The Christian philosopher also has to know pagan philosophies because our own day is so fraught with them.
